In Japan, it's very common for gaming magazines to feature girls only tangentially related to gaming on their covers (GameWalker being the most notorious example). It can range from a girl who is a voice actress and maybe has a role in an upcoming game, to a girl talking about how she likes gaming in an interview, to simply a photoshoot of the girl in the magazine and she never even mentions gaming. It's about selling magazines, basically, and pretty girls on the cover is a tried and true method of doing so.
I know that Mano purports to be a relatively knowledgeable and semi-hardcore gamer on her blog. |
